Kate and Potty Training

I guess you could say that I have introduced the potty to Kate. I first tried this at about 18 months. Seriously, what was I thinking! I had read something about how that was a good time to start potty training. Yeah right! At that time she didn't even understand to sit on a potty. Since then I have read some different articles and a book on potty training. Based on what I have read, it seems like Kate is getting closer to being ready to potty train. I will probably eventually just commit to this and do it hard core for a week. I don't know if we are ready for this yet, though.
Kate has gone potty twice so far. I have rewarded her with a skittle both times, which she was very excited about! However, she doesn't always need to potty when she sits on her little toilet. She will act interested and then want me to go potty on the adult toilet, too. I am trying to encourage her so I will go at the same time. This is not too much fun when she will sit on her potty for 30 minutes and want me to go three times! The main thing that Kate likes to do on her potty is use it for a little chair. She sat for quite awhile on it when I took this picture. She continued to take out the magazines and read them. She was particularly interested in the phone information guide. Let's just say that she gets this idea from her Daddy!

My sister gave us a little doll rocking chair for Kate to play with. It is meant for the dolls to sit on it. However, Kate thought it was a great rocking chair for her to sit on and rock her babies. She got the idea to take the chair outside on our deck and rock her baby. She will also pick up a little blanket for her baby. We find this so adorable! One time last week she also brought this little chair into the room with me while I was rocking Carly. Let's just say the chair is now broken, but Kate still enjoys sitting on it.

Kate has really been loving on Carly now. She will ask to hold her all the time and will hand her toys. We were not to thrilled last night to walk in and see that she was trying to feed Carly a chocolate cookie. Luckily, Carly did not swallow anything. She did get a little taste though.

Also, last week we walked in the playroom to see that Kate had lined up all of her animals. This is the first time that we have seen her do that. It just shows how her mind is thinking and the little ideas that she comes up with.

Kate loves to sit on the sink while I get ready every morning. It can be a problem at times when she wants to play with all of my jewelry. I have already had one pair of earrings go down the drain! A couple of days ago I decided to let her play with my make-up and see what happens. Every girl gets to play dress up with her Mommy's make-up at some point, right? These pictures don't really do it justice, but this was the end result. I was regretting this later when I could not get the lipstick off of her face! It didn't seem to matter to her, though. The next day she wanted to do it all over again. However, I did not let her. We are going to consider this a special treat that will only happen every once in awhile. Also, notice that Kate had her hair put in pigtails for the first time. It doesn't really work with rubber bands yet, because her hair is too fine. These barrettes do the trick, too! Kate actually likes to have bows and barrettes in her hair now. Thank goodness!

So pretty!

It's so good to hear all that is going on with you guys. I love the make-up! I'm sure Kate had so much fun. I also love the picture of her loving on Carly. It is precious. Reading your blog just reminded me that I never called you back. Sorry! My in-laws were visiting, and I guess I forgot among the craziness. We'll talk soon!
