June 2013

Looking back at June makes me smile. It was a great start to our summer. The whole month of June we had swimming lessons two days a week for both girls along with Ryleigh and Aubrey. I really enjoyed watching them all swim together and visiting with Kamara. As we were watchingthe swim lessons, we were monitoring and playing with Hannah and Claire. Zack still worked most of June but we squeezed in fun activities here and there, too.

Zack was slimed at his school for the students reading one million minutes. Every year he does something crazy as a reward for them reading one million minutes. This year it was being slimed. Kate and Carly were not too sure about their Daddy getting treated like this. However, Kate got her own turn and slimed him, too. Students took turns shooting him with slime. Then at the end they just poured bowls of slime on his head. He is such a great sport and a wonderful principal!

Every summer we try to go out to breakfast at least once. This summer we chose Mimi's Cafe. It was so yummy! The girls both chose chocolate chip pancakes from the kid's menu. Who can blame them, right?

Claire loved it, too! Zack gave her some of his toast.
Zack took Kate to the driving range for the first time. Can you tell how hot she is? Great memory for both of them.

Get ready for lots of swimming lesson pictures! Here is Kate on her first day.

Carly and Ryleigh getting ready to swim, too.

Carly's turn

They each received a little beach ball for completing their first day of swimming lessons.

Claire would sit on the mat and play with Hannah or would sit in the stroller and play.

Kate and Aubrey at the end of swimming lessons

Go Kate! Zack and I were very pleased with their swimming lessons this year. We had done two different swimming lessons the previous years and this was by far the best.

Kate was so proud of herself.

Jump!

Zack was able to go to the last two swim lessons

Kate and Aubrey with their swim teacher.

They also received this necklace that says "Water Watcher." That is to let us know that they still need supervision in the water.

Go Carly! Carly loves to stick her head in the water for long periods of time.

This was always one of my favorite parts. They call this big sponge "the cheese." Each child then holds onto the little holes and they kick their legs while the teacher pulls it around in the water. It was so cute to watch! I also loved hearing Carly talk about "the cheese."

There were three girls in their class. Carly was definitely the most adventurous of the group. When the teacher was not working with them they were suppose to sit on the steps. I cannot tell you how many times I would hear "Carly, sit on the steps." She was always wanting to jump in the water. Her teacher told me "That is ok. I would rather her be like that then afraid."

Ryleigh and Carly completed their swimming class!

I love this picture! I love how Carly and Ryleigh are hugging each other and seeing Claire in the background.

Good job girls!

On Zack's last day of work before summer break we celebrated by eating at Spring Creek BBQ. If I ever want to feel like I live in a small town I just need to go there. We had so many friendly people coming up to us and visiting with us. As a special treat, we let the girls get chocolate ice cream. Zack had them go up to the counter by themselves to  ask for it and pay for it. Can you tell Kate is excited?

I love this smile!

Oh, Wow! I think she liked it!

Reading books at Barnes and Noble with Harper and Brent Hughes. It is nice having Daddy home with us for a month in the summer.

Kate and Carly love to play hair salon with both Zack and me.

This is the Scitech Center in Frisco. It is a neat little museum for kids. This is one of the coolest things there. You put up the blue walls to change the direction of the water and then they have bath toy animals that you can have float the path you created.

We went to Camp Deer Run for Alumni Day. It was great to see some old friends. It was the girls first time to go there. We are hoping to send Kate to day camp next year.

Zack did a great job speaking about Camp Deer Run to the alumni and current staff.

Claire eating more finger foods and drinking from a sippy cup.

Claire's first swimming experience. This was at Kamara's neighborhood pool. Her friend and neighbor let her borrow the key for us to use.

Unfortunately, one of the times that we were there was when Kate had kind of a drowning experience. She had wandered off to the 4 feet side and when she couldn't reach she started to panic. She started bobbing up and down and a girl jumped in to save her before I could get to her. After that experience Kate panics when she can't touch the bottom. She will say that she is afraid of drowning. She is a fish if she can touch but really panics otherwise. So, we are trying to work through that.

Here we are at Jack Carter Pool.

It has a really neat area for toddlers!

Kate playing with Claire.

Claire sitting in the big high chair for the first time. She really prefers the booster seat.  She can reach her food a little better in the booster seat.

Claire pulls up on everything now!

Carly and Claire in the stroller together.

It is amazing how entertaining balloons can be. Three happy girls right here!

Scitech Center again! This can make some really big bubbles.

Harper and Brent were with us, too.

Claire enjoyed crawling around, too.

They have a dress up area for the kids. What do you think of Kate's dress?

Playing in the garage with Daddy. Kate and Carly love going in the garage while Zack works different projects.

Kate and Carly helping wash the dishes.

Rosa's Cafe with Kamara, Aubrey, Ryleigh and Hannah. Just give our girls chips and ranch and they are golden!

Afterwards we went to a playground in Vista Ridge. I captured this cute pic! Sorry about my enormous hands tickling Claire.

Kate opening her last birthday present from us. A ladybug land to put live ladybugs  in. Look at those sweet faces!

We had a fun and busy June! I will have two or three posts to post on July that will be coming soon!
