Summer Post Part 1: Abilene and Fredericksburg

We started off Zack's summer break at the end of June by going to Abilene and Fredericksburg to visit family. One of the girls favorite things to do in Abilene is to have Dad Dad push them on the swings. Dad Dad has to go back and forth pushing each girl.  He is such a sweet grandfather to them.

Sweet picture of Carly with one of her babies.

Carly calls any book with lots of words a bible. She loves to hold her little bibles that fit in her hand easily.  Here she grabbed a chapter book for Dad Dad to read to her before bedtime.

Having Father and Son time. Zack helped his Dad get some different outside projects done  outside.

Kate and Carly loved playing in Mom Mom's Garden.

What better way to cool off than to get in the pool! Kate has become quite the swimmer this summer.

We couldn't be in Abilene without getting a Cajun Cone! So yummy! Here is a fun fact: Zack worked at Cajun Cones when he was a college student at ACU.

While we were there, we went to the Abilene Zoo. It is such a fun little zoo.

I love this picture of Kate and Zack.

One of the best parts of the Abilene Zoo is getting to feed the giraffes. It is so funny to see their big tongues go through the fence to get the food out of our hands. Kate and Carly absolutely loved it!

Afterwards we cooled off at Aunt Lindsey's pool. It was great to get to spend time with Aunt Lindsey and swim.
Carly enjoying some time with Mom Mom.

When we got to Fredericksburg, we met Nettie and some other family and friends at Mr. Gatti's. I  found one of those games where you put the coin in the slot and you try to make the coin land in a certain place to earn tickets. I put a coin in without even looking and it went to one of the jackpots! All of sudden tickets were shooting out and I didn't even know what I had done. It was awesome! I think I won like 150 tickets. It made for a great memory and it earned us plenty of tickets to get some fun little toys to play with.
I love this picture of the girls and Nettie.

Enjoying some time with Nettie on her land.

One of the fun experiences to have while in Fredrricksburg is to go fishing in the creek. Kate loves fishing with her Daddy!

We had skipped naps to help the girls sleep better that night, but Carly just couldn't wait. She fell asleep while we walking along the creek. We managed to get her up after about 10 minutes. There is nothing sweeter than having your child sleep on you, though.

Gran Nettie was so sweet and let the girls pick out a new toy at Wal-Mart. Kate chose a little purse with lip gloss in in and Carly chose a baby that makes realistic noises. They were enjoying their new toys while sitting on the steps at Nettie's Ranch.
Unfortunately, some kind of stomach virus struck Carly during the night. She started throwing up around 12:00 am and continued to do so till around 2:00 am. It ended up being about 8 times that she threw up. It was just so sad because she would start to fall asleep and then it would hit her again. Luckily, it stopped after 2:00 am. We were all so exhausted the next day. Carly crashed within 5 minutes of getting in her carseat.
Kate did a great job of staying quiet while Carly was sleeping. She even put on the big headphones for the DVD  player. Overall, we really enjoyed our family time in both Abilene and Fredericksburg.
